Vanessa graduated in 2007 with a PhD in environmental engineering from Imperial College London, for which she got numerous rewards including the nomination as a top young UK scientist at the Houses of Parliament in 2006. Other qualifications include a BSc in chemistry, lead auditor to ISO14001, member of the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management (CIWM) and other certified courses from the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
She joined the BBA in 2007 and quickly became a product development manager focusing on the development of environmental services, including the environmental profiles certification and the microgeneration scheme.
In 2010 she moved temporarily to South Africa where she worked as a senior technical assessor for a BBA sister company- the South African Board of Agrément. In this role she was heavily involved in advising and leading stakeholders, commercial partners and governmental organisations in matters of sustainable development, carbon footprint, climate change and business creation.
On her return to the BBA Vanessa has taken on the role of Project Manager for the Materials team assessing innovative construction materials primarily in the areas of roofing, concrete and sustainability.
