Patrick’s qualifications in plumbing and heating developed in the direction of training and education and he comes to the BBA from a management role in a Further and Higher Education College where he developed and oversaw training for learners in Building Services and Civil Engineering.

Patrick designed and constructed one of the UK’s first renewable training centres for renewable energy systems, initially commencing in 2004. He trained and provided technical support to specialists, manufacturers and other bodies connected to the renewables industry. His passion in this area eventually saw him become East Midlands Hub Manager for the National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies. He enjoyed secondments with roles in two long term projects involving the development of renewable systems training sponsored by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, followed by another with the European Commission.

Patrick is a Member of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (MCIBSE) and holds an MSc in Building Services Engineering from Loughborough University. With qualifications and experience in plumbing and heating, coupled with the design, installation and maintenance of all renewable systems, Patrick combines theoretical knowledge with a hands-on practical understanding of products and systems.

Within the BBA, Patrick assists manufacturing companies in certifying construction products for Microgeneration Certification (MCS). These include pitched roof kits, PV, solar thermal, heat pumps and biomass. He also represents the BBA on various MCS committees which influence the standards required for products and their UK installation.
