Eric graduated in 1990 with a BSc Honours degree in Materials Science. His other qualifications include National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, ICT Certificate in Concrete Technology & Construction: Stage 2 and an Affiliate Member of the Institute of Concrete Technology.
He joined Whatman International Ltd in 1990, a producer of diagnostic and speciality paper, as a Development Technologist managing development projects and developing bespoke solutions to manufacturing needs. In 1998 he joined Blue Circle Industries PLC (acquired by Lafarge group) as a Quality Engineer for the packaging factory and developed a product which progressed to patent approval. Eric was also responsible for the management of the ISO 9001 Quality Assurance system within the factory.
In 2002 he joined Marley Eternit Ltd as a Materials Development Manager resulting in an approved patent application for a roofing product. He progressed to Technical Development Laboratory Manager which incorporated the set up and management of a laboratory accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
Eric took the role of Project Manager at the BBA in 2013 assessing innovative construction materials primarily in the areas of roofing, concrete and systems for waterproofing underground structures.
